You didn't have to know him to understand his impact.
What's incredible is how much an impact this little boy made —- more than most will ever achieve in a lifetime.
My contact with Zack Hamilton was cut short before it even started. We were to do a profile of Zack's amazing family, his parents, and two brothers, when he fell ill in March. It began as a cold as I understand it and before long turned into a stay at the Hospital for Sick Children and then…the unthinkable.
I remained in touch with Heather Hamilton, Zack's mom, briefly via email during what was a harrowing hospital stay — like many others, hoping and praying.
News via twitter that the 3-year-old boy with a heart like a lion had passed was dumbfounding. So fast, so young, so unfair.
His mom Heather, whose world revolved around her special little boy, shared the news with her close-knit twitter community.
Two weeks ago I met Heather Hamilton. The heart-wrenching loss of her baby boy very much etched in her soft, sweet features. She soldiered on during our brief filming with a painfully heavy heart.
What does one say to a mother who has lost a child?
How does a parent move forward after their little one leaves so unexpectedly?
How does a twin brother and older sibling make any sense of where their brother has gone?
Zack's legacy continues to grow. He touched many people in so many deep, meaningful and profound ways. Zack's Dream Room is part of that legacy. The goal is to raise $25,000 to build a special room at York Central Hospital for kids (during their hospital stay) with all the bells and whistles. Zack had a profound impact on many of the nurses he came into contact with while he was treated there and they wanted to remember him — always.
WhereParentsTalk.com wants to help celebrate the bravery of a little boy, the courage of his mom, dad and brothers by donating a portion of the proceeds from the sales of its line of award-winning parenting DVDs to Zack's Dream Room fund.
