2 year old scared of EVERYTHING

I have a rough and tumble two year old boy. He's wild, crazy, and very true to his age and gender, lol. A week ago, however, he's decided that he's scared. Of EVERYTHING. He's scared of the dark, monsters, water, and soemtimes just scared. I know all this is a normal childhood thing, but is it normal for a two year old?? Of course, I comfort him when he tells me he's scared. He's even gotten that devilish little grin when he does it sometimes now, knowing he's played Mommy well.

I don't want him to think I won't be there for him when he's scared, but I want to break this cycle!!!

Shifting personalities is normal for a 2 year old. They're pushing boundaries, seeing what works, seeing what doesn't fly and so on. Fear is normal in anyone. If he really struggles with monsters, etc at bedtime, try this: Fill a spray bottle with water. Right before bedtime, take this bottle of water into his room and let him spray the "monster spray" into the air- let him know that this spray drives away any monsters that may be in his mind and that he thinks he sees. Little rituals like this can ease the fears. Trust me, he won't need it long.

hmmm... that sucks, lol. Just try saying, "oh, you'll be fine, nothings gonna get you." and then drop the subject. maybe he'll lose steam about it if he doesn't get the reaction he wants out of you :) that's what I have to do when I know Annie is playing me.

Sincerely, Kim
