Single-parent, same-sex parent and households led by single fathers are all increasing rather dramatically, leaving the male and female parental unit with children by the wayside.Once the census numbers were within the public domain, I was interviewed on the subject by Global Toronto and it got me thinking. On the one hand, I guess the emergence of the ‘non-traditional family’ is a sign of greater acceptance and a more open Canadian society. At the same time, however, the slow but sure demise of the nuclear family is truly a sad reality.
