This week on the Where Parents Talk radio show on 105.9 The Region, host Lianne Castelino speaks to Matt Young, founder of FSQ Sport, sports business consultant, a Caldwell Partners Canadian Top 40 under 40 business award winner, father of two, about strategies to improve the youth sports experience.
“We seem to have kind of that’s-the-way-we’ve-always-done- things attitude towards sport in a time where things are changing daily. And the needs are much more than they might have been last week, last month last year. And probably the most alarming thing is we really lack that courageous leadership that says, okay, sport has made a pivot and youth and amateur sport have made a pivot from what their original intention was to becoming bigger business. And we have not wrapped our arms around putting guardrails up or having some accountability and governance around that. And I think that’s it lends itself to a really dangerous precedent.”
