If necessity is the mother of invention and experience the father of wisdom, listeners will hear a refreshing blend of both when Where Parents Talk begins a new chapter in its 18-year history of providing parents with practical info and proven tips, with the launch of a weekly radio show on 105.9 The Region. Debuting July 17, 2021, Where Parents Talk with Lianne Castelino will tackle parenting with a fresh twist — exploring practical, proactive, evidence-based solutions and actionable advice for raising children who will thrive — through relevant news, views and advice from other moms and dads, who are also experts in their fields, and via continued conversation across multi-media channels.
“Building a trusted, inclusive community of support for parents has been our mission since day one,” says Lianne Castelino, journalist, mom of three and founder of WhereParentsTalk.com which has produced Canadian-made, how-to videos and other award-winning parenting resources. “I’m honoured that 105.9 The Region will help amplify the message of empowering parents who are looking for credible information and an empathetic ear as they navigate an uncertain world — with confidence and optimism.”
“Educating parents and advocating for them has never been more critical, and Lianne’s body of work in this field is truly impressive,” says Debra McLaughlin, General Manager, 105.9 The Region. “If the past year has taught us anything, it is how interdependent we are. We are delighted to add this important topic to our line-up of local, relevant talk programming. Giving a voice to what matters to our audience furthers our station’s vision of bringing people together in a spirit of collaboration, compassion and care.”
Where Parents Talk with Lianne Castelino will air on Saturday mornings at 10:30 during The Region’s weekend talk block, convening parent-experts from physicians and politicians to educators and athletes, for insightful interviews and candid conversations on raising happy, confident and independent children. Topics will then be explored further on digital platforms.
Headquartered in one of Canada’s fastest growing regions (York), 105.9 The Region reaches close to one million listeners across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) in the average week.
