When you’re working and raising a family, it’s easy for it to feel like a juggling act. There are a lot of hats you need to wear, which can start to leave you feeling stressed or out of control.

It’s not always easy, and sometimes you’ll need to take a step back to recharge and take stock. Finding ways to cope can help you feel more confident and capable when managing the different aspects of your life.

Here are some things you can do to juggle your different lives when work, parenting and more, collide.

Be as organized as you can be

It may be easier said than done, but getting as organized as you can be will help you juggle the different parts of your life. If you usually find that you forget things, or you put off jobs until later, then you should consider getting yourself some new habits.

Some of the habits of organized people include avoiding procrastinating, being able to delegate and writing things down. Waking up earlier in the morning can also help you get a jump on the day, helping you take care of some household chores or even start work a little earlier. It can take some time to settle into a more organized routine, but you’ll feel much more in charge when you do.

Work for yourself to gain some flexibility

One way to help you take charge of your work and home life is to work for yourself. Whether you choose to go down the freelance route, or you set up your own business, working for yourself will open up a lot of possibilities. Becoming a parentpreneur can be a lot of work, but it is very rewarding to build something for yourself. Becoming your own boss gives you the flexibility you need to take control of your life.

Don’t say yes to everything

It’s easy to say yes than no, but that doesn’t mean you should say yes to everything. Overstretching yourself can leave you exhausted, but it can also leave you feeling a little resentful, too.

You can learn how and when to say no in a way that leaves you feeling guilt-free. You need to make sure your day is manageable, or you risk becoming stressed.

Learn to seek help when you’re struggling

As a parent, there are a lot of things on your plate. Not only will you have to juggle work, your children, your home, finances and social life, but you can deal with other stresses too.

Aging parents can be an additional strain to deal with, and you may need to seek help from others if caring for them becomes too much. There is support out there to help, so it’s good to know what your options are. If you’re concerned about poor treatment, contact a nursing home abuse attorney to give you the help you need. Dealing with elderly or sick relatives can be a big responsibility, so make sure you take advantage of the help that’s out there.

Make some time for things you enjoy

Life can feel like an endless to-do list. And while having a list can help you feel more organized, it’s important that the list features some time for yourself too. You need to make time for the things you enjoy, whether that’s hobbies or socializing with your friends. Having a little time to yourself is important to give your body and mind a rest, and will help make all of your hard work worth it.

Take care of yourself

It’s difficult to juggle multiple responsibilities when you’re feeling tired and run down. Taking the right approach to self-care can help you get the rest you need, while also making sure you stay healthy and focused. Eating right, exercise and getting some quality sleep are all important for helping you feel your best.

You can’t take care of anyone else if you’re not feeling your best, so make sure you prioritize your own health and wellbeing so that you can be there for others too.

Having a lot going on in your life can help you feel like you’re always playing catch up. It’s a balancing act, but by finding ways to cope and get yourself organized, you can make it work. Learn to strike the balance and adopt a routine that works for you – if it gets too much, then you need to make the necessary changes to make things work better for you.
