As soon as they start to go online and show interest in this. It is important to tell kids that this is a public place, even though it can seem like it is harmless because you are in your home. You need to form this dialogue from day one.
How do parents benefit from the use of tools like Social Shield?
There are a lot of tools that attempt to block what kids do, like using social networking sites. One of the problems we see with blocking social networks like Facebook is that they have become such a part of our lives. People need to learn how to use these technologies because they are not going away. No parent with a child on a social network grew up on a social network.
